Who we are

Contour was founded in 2020 by students who saw that the quality of your education was basically a lottery. Teachers stretched thin by the system, learning materials that varied from school to school, and support that stopped the moment you left the classroom.

We began with 5 students in a room. Today 15,000+ students have trusted Contour as their academic partners, and we've grown to 500+ team members across 10 campuses in Australia. In 2025 we ranked #8 on the AFR Fast 100 of fastest-growing companies.

We've produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the world-record UCAT scorer, and placed 850+ students into medical and dental schools across Australia.

What you can tutor

Contour tutors typically teach one subject. Selecting more widens the classes you're considered for, so we can place you faster and at a campus that suits you. Only choose subjects you'd be happy to teach.

Where you can tutor

Choose the campuses you can get to. Most tutors pick one or two near home or uni, and selecting more widens the classes available to you.

CBD: Melbourne
East: Box Hill, Glen Waverley
South-East: Bentleigh, Narre Warren, Springvale
West: Point Cook
North: Epping (late 2026)

What you'll do

We hire for two tracks and assess every application for both, then place you where you'll shine brightest as a tutor:

Tutors run the group classes. You intuitively teach subject content to a full class of students, coach study skills and exam strategy, mentor students through your personal experiences, and form genuine connections that inspire.
Assistant Tutors work with students one at a time. You support the lead tutor in class, run video consults with students who need extra help, answer questions by text between classes, write worked solutions, and verify learning materials for quality.

For example, you might teach two classes on Monday and two on Tuesday (4:15–6:15pm and 6:45–8:45pm), plus two on Saturday morning (10:00am–12:00pm and 12:30–2:30pm).

What you'll bring

Strong communication and a knack for making hard concepts click
Knowledge of your subject at first-year university level or above
A 99+ ATAR and a 45+ raw study score in your subject (highly desirable, not required)
6+ classes per week, committed across a full academic year (around 12+ hours weekly)
Energy, empathy, and a desire to help students

Why you'll love it

You'll work alongside high-achieving university peers who study similar degrees to you and are at Contour for the same reason: to give back and help the next generation of students.

The pay: Classes run for two hours. Tutors start at $90/class and reach $140+/class, plus super and bonuses. Most Tutors earn $130 to $220+/class including bonuses. Assistant Tutors start at $55/class and rise to $70/class, plus super.
You don't build the material: Every class runs on a workbook our subject team writes, with homework, practice SACs and exams already built into our learning portal. We provide you with what to teach, and all you have to do is prep how to teach it.
Real (paid) training: Qualification through Contour Tutor Academy, class sit-ins, regular check-ins with your team lead, and honest feedback on your tutoring.
A schedule you choose: Pick your days, campuses, and times. Evenings and weekends, built around your uni timetable.
A full learning ecosystem behind you: Students get workshops, practice SACs and exams, one-on-one consults, text support, and the learning portal.
Somewhere to go: Grow with Contour into senior tutoring roles, team leads, or full-time career opportunities.
