About the role
Teach beginner to intermediate swim lessons for children (infants to 12 years) following Jump! Swim School curriculum standards. Deliver safe, fun, skill-focused lessons that build water confidence, stroke basics, and aquatic independence while maintaining a positive, inclusive environment for families in Bayswater. We welcome applicants with teaching experience and those new to swim instruction — full training and mentorship provided.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 30 minute structured swim lessons for small groups and one-on-one lessons across age ranges (0–3, 3–5, 5–8, 8–12).
- Follow Jump! Swim School lesson plans and progression goals; adapt activities to each child’s skill level.
- Teach water-safety, breath control, floating, kicking, basic strokes and entry/exit skills.
- Conduct pre-lesson checks (equipment, pool safety, roster) and keep post-lesson progress notes.
- Manage class behaviour with positive reinforcement and age-appropriate coaching techniques.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress, home practice tips and bookings.
- Maintain pool safety standards: supervise deck, enforce rules, and respond to incidents per centre protocols.
- Assist with swim school administration: class sign-in, attendance tracking, waitlist management, and occasional front-desk duties.
- Provide excellent customer service: welcome families, handle enquiries and bookings professionally, resolve minor complaints, and escalate issues to management when needed.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service coaching.
- Support local promotion when requested (community events, open days).
