Primary objective
The Senior Teacher is the educational leader and manager of the Health and Physical Education faculty through years 7-9
who plans, develops and oversees the implementation of quality teaching and learning programs to cater for the diverse
needs of students within the faculty.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake teaching responsibilities and leadership of a team in accordance with school and other relevant policies.
2. Ensure delivery of appropriate Health and Physical Education curriculum and adherence to assessment, recording and
reporting procedures in accordance with school, ACARA board, DET and all other relevant policies.
3. Ensure effective student management procedures in accordance with school and other relevant policies.
4. Allocate students, staff and resources to optimise student learning outcomes for a diverse student cohort in collaboration
with colleagues.
5. Manage staffing, budgeting, WH&S and physical resources in accordance with DET and school policy and procedures.
6. Contribute to the school's Leadership Team in accordance with the school's strategic direction.
7. Lead and manage the student participation in both school and interschool events, coordinating staff, students and
resources and liaising with School Sport NT and other relevant organisations to ensure compliance with documentation
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Significant, effective teaching experience in a middle or secondary school environment.
2. Sound understanding of senior secondary curriculum in Health and Physical Education programs.
3. Ability or capacity to lead a team of secondary school teachers and support staff, while collaborating with school
administration, leadership and relevant bodies to provide high quality Health and Physical Education programs.
4. Ability or capacity to work effectively with colleagues, school administration, students and parents in the areas of student
management, wellbeing and behaviour management practices to maximise student engagement, retention and
achievement.
5. Demonstrated ability to contribute to or lead a team to manage change and improve student outcomes in line with the
school’s strategic direction.
6. Well-developed or developing high-level interpersonal, communication, team building, conflict resolution, administrative
and organisational skills.
