Salary : $110,110 - $114,980 plus superannuation and salary package
This is a maternity leave backfill role

The Organisation

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.

About the role

The Kinship Care Team Leader is responsible for the management of the Kinship Case Contracting program in VACCA’s Southern region. The Team Leader is responsible for engaging, guiding, supervising, and supporting case managers in the delivery of a quality service, that is culturally safe. It is the Team Leader’s responsibility to ensure the team consistently advocates for decisions that are in the best interests of the child, within a a culturally informed framework. After hours work will be required from time to time to support family time and critical incident management.

About You

Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
A Tertiary qualification in the field of social work, youth work, psychology or community services and extensive relevant experience, or a combination of experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required.
Minimum 3 years of experience
Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively, with proven capacity to negotiate and liaise with Government Departments, Aboriginal services, and other mainstream agencies.
Experience in working within a variety of frameworks and models; trauma informed practice, critical reflective practice, cultural imbedded frameworks, best interests of the child, child centred practice, case management principles.
Proficient understanding of the Child Protection system, the OOHC system, the Aboriginal Child Placement Principles and the Child Safe Standards.
Demonstrated communication skills, that are clear, culturally appropriate, respectful and provide consistent messages to staff, clients, community members and stakeholders.
Ability to provide positive leadership and supervision within a complex service delivery environment, ability to use initiative, thinking laterally and strategically during times of pressure, with a focus on support, accountability and ensuring a culture that aligns with VACCA’s values.
An ability to work flexible hours.
Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
