Brisbane Health Management Centre is a professional health and wellness clinic located in Sunnybank, Brisbane. We provide remedial massage, therapeutic bodywork, dry needling support services, cupping, moxibustion, relaxation therapy, musculoskeletal care and wellness treatments to a diverse local client base.
Due to ongoing business growth and increasing client demand, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Remedial Massage Therapist / Massage Therapist to join our team on a full-time basis.
This role requires a therapist who is able to communicate professionally in both English and Chinese Mandarin, as many of our clients are bilingual or Chinese-speaking and require accurate communication regarding symptoms, treatment needs, aftercare advice and appointment arrangements.
Position Summary
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing professional massage therapy and related wellness treatments to clients with a range of musculoskeletal, postural, stress-related and general wellness concerns.
The role requires strong clinical assessment skills, hands-on treatment experience, excellent communication skills, professional client care, accurate record keeping and the ability to work within a busy clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conducting client consultations to understand presenting symptoms, treatment goals, health history and contraindications.
2. Assessing soft tissue, muscular tension, range of motion, postural issues and general functional concerns relevant to massage treatment.
3. Providing remedial massage, therapeutic massage, deep tissue massage, relaxation massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release and other appropriate manual therapy techniques.
4. Developing and delivering treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs, presentation and tolerance.
5. Communicating clearly with clients in English and Chinese Mandarin regarding treatment plans, expected outcomes, aftercare advice and follow-up recommendations.
6. Maintaining accurate client treatment notes, appointment records and relevant clinical documentation.
7. Observing workplace health and safety procedures, infection control standards and clinic hygiene requirements.
8. Preparing treatment rooms, equipment, towels and supplies before and after each appointment.
9. Working collaboratively with other therapists, practitioners and administrative staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.
10. Providing professional customer service and maintaining a respectful, ethical and client-focused approach at all times.
11. Recommending appropriate ongoing care, stretching, self-care or lifestyle advice within the therapist’s scope of practice.
12. Supporting the clinic’s appointment flow, client retention and service quality standards.
Required Qualifications
· A relevant qualification in massage therapy, remedial massage, myotherapy or a closely related field, such as Diploma of Remedial Massage, Certificate IV in Massage Therapy with substantial relevant experience, or an overseas equivalent qualification with demonstrated practical experience.
· Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
· First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
Required Experience and Skills
· At least 2 years of relevant massage therapy experience, preferably in a clinic, wellness centre, rehabilitation, health or therapeutic massage setting.
· Practical experience in remedial massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, relaxation massage and client-centred treatment planning.
· Ability to communicate fluently and professionally in English and Chinese Mandarin.
· Strong understanding of client consultation, contraindications, hygiene procedures and professional boundaries.
· Ability to manage a full appointment schedule and provide consistent, high-quality treatment.
· Good written communication skills for treatment notes and client records.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Professional presentation, punctuality, reliability and strong attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
· Experience with cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, assisted stretching, head and neck therapy, foot therapy or women’s wellness massage.
· Experience working with clients from Chinese-speaking backgrounds.
· Knowledge of HICAPS, private health fund claiming processes or clinic booking systems.
· Membership with a recognised massage or natural therapy association.
Language Requirement
This position requires the successful applicant to speak both English and Chinese Mandarin.
This requirement is essential because the clinic provides services to a diverse client base, including a significant number of Chinese-speaking clients who require clear communication about symptoms, treatment preferences, health history, contraindications, aftercare instructions and appointment arrangements.
Salary and Benefits
· Annual salary: AUD $73,150 - $80,000 plus superannuation.
