Pay rate: $46.70 per hour + Super + Salary Packaging
Permanent part-time position, 5 days per week
Tuggerah location

About the role:

We are seeking a skilled & experienced Domestic Family Violence Caseworker to join our passionate Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) team on the Central Coast. This team provides women and children with support to escape and recover from violence and abuse and improve their outcomes. Support is provided to Victim Survivors through ongoing practical and emotional support for victim/survivors living through the abuse and for victims who have escaped the abuser.

The main focus of the role is on the risk and safety needs for women, children and young people while providing practical and emotional support. The child focus Caseworker will support children maintain stability in education, childcare and community. The child focused caseworker will promote child-centered case work across the program ensuring impacts on domestic family violence are recognised to assist in appropriate supports and responses to nurture their trauma needs.

This role is a permanent full-time position based in Tuggerah and will require the successful incumbent to travel across the Central Coast visiting families in their residential homes or in the Community.

What You’ll Do:

Provide high quality, short term, comprehensive case management to support women & children experiencing domestic & family violence.
All case managed clients will receive a safety risk assessment, safety plan and set goals to meet their individual needs through case planning.
Provide support through advocacy, safety planning and collaboration with other services.
Provide timely intake and triage assessment.
Delivery of group facilitation of Domestic Family violence.
Develop and foster strong relationships with relevant external stakeholders and community groups including NSW Police, Department of Communities and Justice NSW Health etc;
Professional record keeping and information sharing consistent with legislation relating to NSW Privacy and Confidentiality, Child Protection and Safer Pathway obligations.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications.
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role working and engaging with young people aged 4 -18 years.
Demonstrated experience in effective case management with young people including Domestic and Family Violence, cycle of violence, impacts, behaviours and signs, safety planning.
Solid knowledge of parenting programs and an ability to facilitate such programs.
Demonstrated practice experience relating to current Child Protection and DFV legislation.
Good understanding of developmental stages of children, attachment theory and signs when trauma has affected these behaviours
Good understanding of the effects that fear, coercion and trauma play on a child’s physical safety, social and emotional wellbeing and mental health.
Knowledge and experience of issues affecting at risk children/ young people aged 4-18 years, drug and alcohol, housing issues, domestic violence, child protection and knowledge of relevant services.
Ability to demonstrate networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
