Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathway. Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.
Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony. Written confirmation from the University is required.
Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
What you'll be doing
The Clinical Psychologist works with children and young people referred for emotional, behavioural, social and adjustment difficulties by the Cancer Centre for Children at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. The Clinical Psychologist will work under the direction of a team manager within a multi-disciplinary department of Staff Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Allied Health clinicians and fellow Clinical Psychologists.
The Clinical Psychologist will provide comprehensive assessment and evidence-based interventions to patients and their families receiving treatment through the Cancer Centre for Children, and to survivors of cancer, which may include young adults, to optimise health and wellbeing.

As the Cancer Centre for Children regularly supervises intern psychologists, the Clinical Psychologist is required to assist with supervision and may be required to be a primary supervisor.
The Clinical Psychologist will also contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research conducted by the Psycho-Oncology team , participate in ongoing professional development activities and peer supervision and perform administrative and professional duties necessary for the delivery of an efficient and high-quality service.

Minimum two-year full-time equivalent accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Full Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Full endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in Clinical Psychology or eligible to progress to same with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Demonstrated clinical skills in the assessment and evidence-based psychological treatment of children and families, preferably in a paediatric hospital setting.

Demonstrated experience in the psychometric and functional assessment of children and young people, including the use, interpretation, and reporting of standardised assessment tools.

Understanding of emotional, social, behavioural and neurodevelopmental comorbidities that can arise for children being treated for complex medical conditions.

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as work respectfully and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated professional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision and teaching, with AHPRA-approved supervisor status desirable.

Experience in quality improvement initiatives, research activities and publication.
