About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader to join our Primary Care and Community Health leadership team as the Child, Family and Priority Populations Manager.

In this pivotal management role, you will lead and oversee the Child, Family and Priority Populations stream across NBMLHD, providing strategic direction, operational leadership and governance to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality services for children, families and priority populations experiencing violence, abuse and neglect.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders, you will be responsible for driving service excellence, strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives and risk management processes across a diverse portfolio. You will play a critical role in ensuring services are responsive, evidence-based and aligned with organisational priorities, while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to teams across the District, ensuring strong clinical governance frameworks are maintained and that client safety, quality of care and professional standards remain at the forefront of service delivery. You will be a visible and engaging leader who can build effective partnerships, influence positive outcomes and navigate complex service environments with confidence and integrity.

For applicants with a nursing background, this position also provides the opportunity to deliver professional leadership for nurses and midwives working within the Child, Family and Priority Populations stream.

What you will bring to the role

Demonstrated substantial management experience in a health setting
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health-related clinical discipline or; Current registration with the AHPRA as a Division 1 Registered Nurse; and/or extensive experience in applying clinical knowledge to the development of clinical models of care for children, their families and priority populations.
Highly developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability in the leadership and management of multidisciplinary staff to deliver efficient and effective integrated models of care that are person-centred and trauma-informed and consider diversity and patient flow within the whole of health and social service systems.
Skills in policy and planning development, public relations and working with consumers and carers.
Demonstrated ability to manage the physical, financial and human resources of a large and complex service delivery organisation to ensure the resources available are appropriately utilised.
Ability and experience in improving health service delivery, based on change management processes.
Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites and facilities across a large geographic area, which may include overnight stays.
