About the Role

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide key assistance with various administrative and legal tasks for our Workplace Relations & Safety and Corporate groups in Canberra.

This role is being offered on a 12-month fixed term contract basis.

Responsibilities

Diary management
Creation of new clients and matters through Aderant
Booking meetings/venues/flights
Billing
Preparing monthly client reports and accounts
Performing administrative services, including typing, editing and proof-reading letters, memos, briefs and court documents, drafting letters, dictatyping, formatting documents, filing and archiving
Database updating
Answering phones
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders

About You

Australian citizen with security clearance or willingness to obtain one, if required
Administrative support experience within a law firm preferred
A working knowledge of Outlook MS Word, Excel, OneNote & PowerPoint
Exposure to practice and document management systems such as Aderant, iManage, InTapp and Legal Tracker desired but not essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, spelling and grammar
Proven decision making and problem-solving ability
Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
Influencing and conflict management skills
The ability to build strong working relationships and skilfully deal with people at all levels throughout the firm
Demonstrated ability to manage change at a personal and team level
Strong team collaboration skills with an ability to lead by example
A strong customer service focus with a high level of responsiveness
