An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Assistant to join our Information Law & Government Programs team based in Canberra.

The Role
We are looking for a Legal Assistant with at least 12 months experience, to join our Canberra team. This role requires a candidate who can thrive in a busy practice, be organised and self-motivated with a high attention to detail and a positive attitude. You will be part of a cohesive and collaborative team and will be expected to provide support to solicitors and also undertake other team tasks individually from time to time.
Responsibilities include day to day administration and the following:
- Answering phone calls and assisting with enquiries;
- Preparing legal documents and correspondence, supporting the team to respond to work orders;
- File opening and closing, system and matter management;
- Diary management and work prioritisation;
- Assisting with monthly billing and client reports; and
- General administrative support to solicitors.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and management and organisational skills, with a client service focus. You will be proficient in MS Word and formatting. The use of PowerPoint and XL will be well regarded. You will have the ability to prioritise tasks, display initiative, have good attention to detail and a proven history of meeting deadlines. The core office hours are 8.30am to 5pm however additional hours may be necessary during busy periods.
