Position Summary
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and overseeing civil engineering and construction projects to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Australian standards and project requirements. The role involves preparing technical documentation, conducting site inspections, monitoring project progress, and liaising with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will support project delivery through effective problem-solving, engineering analysis, and compliance management while contributing to the overall operational and project objectives of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and oversee civil engineering designs and documentation for residential construction projects, including custom homes, knockdown-rebuild developments, and house and land packages.
- Assess site conditions, engineering requirements, and construction constraints to support project planning and delivery.
- Review architectural, structural, drainage, earthworks, and civil designs to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, National Construction Code (NCC), and local council requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, surveyors, certifiers, structural engineers, contractors, and other consultants throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure works are completed in accordance with approved plans, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve engineering and construction-related issues arising during site preparation, excavation, footing, drainage, and building works.
- Assist in preparing engineering reports, technical assessments, design calculations, construction documentation, and compliance submissions.
- Monitor project progress and provide technical guidance to site supervisors and construction teams to minimise delays and maintain build quality.
- Support project budgeting, scheduling, procurement planning, and resource allocation to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Liaise with local councils, utility providers, certifiers, and regulatory authorities regarding approvals, inspections, and engineering compliance matters.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental regulations, and relevant construction legislation.
- Maintain accurate project records, technical documentation, variation reports, and engineering correspondence throughout the project lifecycle.\
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) with at least 2 years of relevant experience in residential construction, land development, infrastructure, or building projects.
- Strong knowledge of Australian engineering standards, residential construction practices, drainage, earthworks, site development, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications.
- Proven project coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with experience using engineering software and working with contractors, consultants, certifiers, and regulatory authorities.
