The Opportunity

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 5 Coordinator - Social Media and Digital within Parliamentary Engagement.

The Parliament Shop and E-commerce team is seeking a creative, digitally focused professional to support the growth of the Parliament Shop.

In this role, you will plan, coordinate and optimise digital marketing campaigns, create engaging content across a range of channels, and support audience engagement, brand awareness and sales outcomes.

You will produce high-quality digital assets including photography and video, write compelling copy for product listings, social media and email campaigns, and assist in implementing marketing strategies that connect audiences with the Parliament Shop’s unique products and stories.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience in digital marketing, e-commerce and content creation, with strong skills in writing, photography, video production and social media management.

You will maintain and optimise the Shopify platform, manage targeted EDM campaigns, monitor digital and e-commerce performance metrics, and use insights and data to improve customer experience and campaign effectiveness.

A willingness to work in the Parliament Shop on an ad-hoc basis as part of the retail team is essential, providing valuable insights into customer needs and supporting the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience.

A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, digital media, design, or a related discipline is highly desirable, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in digital content, ecommerce or marketing environments.

This role is part time, 22.5 hours per week. The days these hours are worked over may be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Job Specific Requirements:

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the specified classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Plan, coordinate and optimise digital marketing campaigns aligned with strategic priorities, exercising sound judgement to support audience engagement, growth and sales outcomes.

Support the delivery of audience-focused digital content strategies, producing high-quality assets (including photography and video) that align with brand, accessibility and government communication standards.

Monitor and report on digital and ecommerce performance metrics, assist in identifying trends and provide input to improve campaign effectiveness, customer experience and content performance.

Maintain and optimise ecommerce platform content (Shopify), ensuring accuracy, effective tagging, SEO alignment and continuous improvement of user experience.

Assist in the development and delivery of targeted email marketing campaigns (EDMs), including creating high-quality, audience-focused content and managing customer databases. Apply audience segmentation, data insights and analytics to optimise engagement, support campaign effectiveness and inform continuous improvement of digital marketing strategies.

Build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships, providing informed advice on digital communication and supporting the delivery of integrated campaign activities.

Manage competing priorities with minimal supervision, contributing to the implementation of digital strategies, and supporting continuous improvement of processes, governance and team practices.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated ability to apply strategic thinking to digital marketing and translate business objectives into effective digital initiatives.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information, tailor messaging to different audiences and support informed decision-making.

Salary

Currently, the salary range for this position is $92,450 - $99,185 per annum.

Conditions of Employment

Employment opportunities at the department are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:

Australian citizenship: Section 22 of the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 requires that employees of the Parliamentary Service are generally required to be Australian citizens. However, if you are not an Australian citizen you may be considered for engagement on the condition that you are able to gain Australian Citizenship within a specified time. Failure to obtain citizenship within the timeframe could lead to termination of employment.
Loss and resumption of Australian citizenship: Under historical provisions of the Australian Citizenship Act 1948 (section 17), some Australian citizens automatically lost their citizenship if they voluntarily acquired the citizenship of another country between 26 January 1949 and 3 April 2002. This loss occurred by operation of law and may not have been known to the individual at the time. Although these provisions were repealed in 2002 to allow dual citizenship, the repeal did not restore citizenship that was previously lost. Individuals who believe they may be affected are recommended to seek advice about resuming their Australian citizenship. Further information, is available on the Department of Home Affairs website.
- Applicants who progress to the offer stage with our department who have been affected by the loss of citizenship as outlined above will be required to demonstrate within a reasonable time that they have resumed, or are actively undertaking the process to resume, Australian citizenship.
Security clearance and character clearance: the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Health assessment: a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
External Work Approval: Employees must seek approval for any paid employment outside the department and declare voluntary activities that could impact their role.
