About the role
As the Diabetes Education Manager, you will provide strategic, operational and clinical leadership for diabetes services across Eastern Health. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing specialist diabetes education services across both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring excellence in clinical care, service delivery, governance and workforce development.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Medicine, Maternity, Allied Health, Pharmacy, Community Services and Primary Care, you will ensure patients receive safe, evidence-based and person-centred diabetes care.
A regular day will see you:
Lead and support the Diabetes Education Service across multiple Eastern Health sites.
Manage and develop a team of Credentialled Diabetes Educators and Diabetes Clinical Nurse Consultants.
Improve patient access, flow and service performance across inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Drive quality improvement, research, innovation and service redesign initiatives.
Provide expert clinical leadership in complex diabetes management.
Support implementation of contemporary diabetes technologies including continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump therapies.
Lead workforce planning, professional development and succession planning activities.
Manage service resources and contribute to budget and performance monitoring.
Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support integrated diabetes care.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration.
Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association and postgraduate qualification in Diabetes Education or equivalent.
Extensive experience in diabetes education and management across acute and ambulatory care settings.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing clinical teams and healthcare services, including service planning, workforce management and operational leadership.
Advanced knowledge of contemporary diabetes management, including insulin therapies, diabetes technologies, gestational diabetes and care across the continuum.
Proven ability to lead quality improvement, clinical governance, service redesign initiatives and implementation of new models of care, digital health initiatives, digital culture and digital transformation.
Strong understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and relevant professional practice frameworks.
Demonstrated involvement in research, publications or conference presentations.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
