ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Bakers Delight Mermaid Waters is a well-established and professionally operated bakery located at Q Super Centre, Mermaid Waters QLD 4218.
As part of the nationally recognised Bakers Delight network, the business is committed to producing high-quality freshly baked breads, rolls, pastries, savoury products and other bakery items using established baking techniques and quality ingredients.
We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Qualified Bakers to join our bakery production team on a full-time basis.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The successful applicants will be responsible for preparing, producing and baking high-quality bakery products in accordance with Bakers Delight standards, customer demand, daily production schedules and food safety requirements.
This position requires strong practical baking knowledge, attention to detail, reliability and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced commercial bakery environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicants will undertake duties including:
● Preparing and baking a variety of breads, rolls, pastries, savoury products, sweet products and other bakery items;
● Checking the quality of raw ingredients and accurately weighing and measuring ingredients;
● Mixing, kneading, cutting, moulding, shaping, fermenting and proving dough according to recipes and production requirements;
● Operating commercial bakery equipment including mixers, dough dividers, moulders, proofers, ovens and related machinery;
● Monitoring dough consistency, fermentation processes, proving times, baking temperatures and product quality throughout production;
● Coordinating bakery production processes including forming, loading, baking, unloading, cooling and packaging products;
● Preparing fillings, toppings, glazes and decorative finishes where required;
● Ensuring all bakery products meet presentation, taste, texture and quality standards;
● Following Bakers Delight recipes, procedures and daily production schedules;
● Monitoring ingredient levels and assisting with stock control and ordering requirements;
● Reducing wastage and ensuring efficient use of bakery ingredients and resources;
● Maintaining cleanliness of bakery equipment, utensils, machinery and production areas;
● Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards;
● Assisting with training and mentoring apprentices, junior bakers and bakery team members where required; and
● Working collaboratively with other staff members to achieve daily production targets and customer expectations.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Applicants must have:
● Certificate III in Baking, Certificate IV in Baking or equivalent relevant qualification; and
● At least one (1) year of relevant full-time commercial bakery experience after completion of qualification;
OR
● A minimum of three (3) years of full-time relevant commercial baking experience where formal qualifications are not held.
Applicants should also demonstrate:
● Strong knowledge of commercial baking methods and dough production techniques;
● Experience preparing bread and bakery products in a commercial bakery environment;
● Ability to operate commercial bakery machinery and equipment;
● Understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices;
● Excellent time management and organisational skills;
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality;
● Ability to work efficiently in a busy production environment;
● Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic;
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
● Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays where required.
WHAT WE OFFER
● Competitive salary package of $75,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation per annum;
