Position Description

Senior Payroll Officer

Berry Street Yooralla is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to join our team and deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services across a complex, high-volume environment.

The Opportunity

Hybrid role: Melbourne Office on Wurundjeri Country
Full Time, Fixed term (12 months)
Competitive Salary + Super and Salary packing
Occasional travel to other offices across Victoria.

As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements. You’ll also play a key role in supporting employees with payroll queries and contributing to continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

Process accurate, end-to-end payroll in line with deadlines and compliance requirements
Apply Awards and Enterprise Agreements to ensure correct pay and entitlements
Maintain payroll data, including employee records, leave, and salary packaging
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly and accurately
Support employees with clear, responsive payroll advice and queries

About You

You are an experienced payroll professional with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and service.

You will have:

Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end payroll in medium to large organisations
Strong knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and payroll legislation
Experience with payroll and workforce systems (e.g. Ascender, Kronos or similar)
Advanced attention to detail and ability to resolve complex payroll issues
Strong Excel and data management skills
Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
The ability to manage competing priorities, work to deadlines, and remain calm under pressure
