Parks Victoria is seeking a passionate and skilled Ranger to join our team in the Lower Yarra Team. As a Ranger, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the park's natural and cultural assets, providing exceptional visitor experiences, and supporting environmental conservation efforts. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and grow your career in park management. About the role:

Our Rangers are key to Parks Victoria providing exceptional experiences for visitors to Victoria's parks and reserves. As a Ranger, you are responsible for the on-ground management of Parks Victoria's estate, consistent with organisational priorities, policies and procedures, ensuring that people can enjoy the outdoors and protecting the things that make our parks and reserves so special.

You will work as part of a team in delivering a variety of projects and services including (but not limited to): working with Traditional Owners in joint management and other partnership arrangements; conservation program delivery (such as pest plants and animals, threatened species); visitor infrastructure and asset construction and maintenance (such as roads, walking tracks, day visitor areas and campgrounds); compliance and enforcement activities; the delivery of education programs; and engagement with the community, licensed tour operators and other commercial operations, and volunteers.

Parks Victoria is responsible for managing a diverse estate of more than 4 million hectares including 3,000 land and marine parks and reserves making up 18 per cent of Victoria's landmass, 75 per cent of Victoria's wetlands and 70 per cent of Victoria's coastline. Victoria's parks are home to more than 4,300 native plants and around 1,000 native animal species.

Parks Victoria's estate attracts more than 100 million visits every year and we are committed to providing accessible, enjoyable, diverse programs and destinations while protecting and enhancing environmental and cultural values.

We're looking for someone with:

Relevant level of knowledge of regulations and compliance procedures.
Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
Previous experience in self-management and supervisory skills.
An ability to work independently as well as within a team
