About the company

A well-regarded Queensland manufacturer of high-quality custom trailers, based in Brendale, is in a strong growth phase and looking to add a leader to its assembly floor. The team is tight-knit and takes real pride in what it builds, holding each other to a high standard.

The role

This is a hands-on leadership role running the day-to-day operation of the assembly area. You will be the key link between the Branch Manager and the assembly team, making sure trailers are built right, on time, every time.

You will lead a team of assembly leads, technicians, and apprentices, own quality across the build, manage the parts room, and set the standard on the floor. This is not a desk job. You will be in the midst of it, solving problems before they escalate and building a culture of accountability and quality.

What you will be doing

Plan and coordinate daily assembly activities to meet build targets and keep workflow moving. Supervise and support the team to execute work to schedule and to drawings. Own quality control through the build, from in-process checks to final inspection before QA sign-off, and drive down rework and defects. Run the parts room so the right parts are picked and ready for each job, with accurate usage records. Lead daily pre-starts and toolbox talks and keep the area clean, safe, and hazard-free. Mentor, coach, and develop your team, and help onboard new starters and apprentices. Work with the Branch Manager and Product Manager to improve assembly processes, tooling, and workflow.

What we are looking for

You will bring a mechanical assembly background and a solid understanding of trailer running gear, including suspension, braking, electrical systems, and wheels. Ideally you have:

3 to 5 years in trailer, vehicle, or adjacent manufacturing assembly
At least 2 years in a supervisory or leading hand capacity, leading people rather than just doing the work
A trade qualification in mechanical assembly or equivalent hands-on experience
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
A forklift licence and White Card (preferred)

The kind of person who succeeds here does not wait to be told twice. You walk into a problem and sort it out. You set the standard on the floor and your team rises to meet it. You are hands-on when needed but able to manage the bigger picture, and you handle pressure without passing it down the line.
