We are looking for compassionate, hard working and dedicated support workers who live in the Bowral area, to join our team. It is a very rewarding job that will give you the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the community, whilst also developing personal skills.

A successful candidate must have:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confident and friendly attitude.
Ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately.
Understanding of safe work practices.
Previous employment experience in the health/Disability care sector.
Experience in providing mental health care.
Ability to work independently and accurately report back to supervisors.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Experience in providing quality services that assist people to maintain their independence, dignity, cultural values and religious beliefs.
Assisting with meal preparation and supporting independence with meals.
Supporting shopping tasks, grocery unpacking and contributing to shopping lists as directed.
Providing mobility support where required, including assistance with tasks that may be difficult when using crutches.
Supporting community access, transport, outings and attendance at appointments.
Monitoring general wellbeing and reporting any concerns to supervisors, including matters relating to skin integrity or general health.
Assisting with light household tasks, laundry-related duties and maintaining a clean and safe home environment.
Following infection-control procedures, including hand hygiene, mask use and glove use where required.
Respecting the role of an assistance dog and following clear boundaries around interaction

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Certificate III in Disability/individual support and / or Certificate III in Home and Community Care
Mental Health training
Manual Handling
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
Valid Police Check
Driver License
Reliable motor vehicle (including valid registration and full comprehensive insurance)

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide culturally appropriate and compassionate support
Provide assistance to help participants remain living independently
Assist with community access, in a dignified and safe manner and in accordance with individual care plans
Assist with self care and personal domestic activities
Transportation of participants to and from activities and appointments
Complete allocated tasks, and remain vigilant while doing so
Monitor participants health and well-being, whilst also contributing to their skill development

Pay: $32.00 – $35.00 per hour
