CMRI is part of the largest health and medical research precinct in Australia and also a member of the Westmead Research Hub. This membership allows our staff access to the vast array of technology, services, resources and expertise available nearby at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Westmead Hospital and the Westmead Institute. The Events Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of multiple fundraising events.

Together we are making a difference for kids living with genetic disease.

Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world’s most highly regarded independent medical research organisations. Our research focuses on the four key areas impacting children’s health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology.

Work with a team of dedicated professionals

The Events Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of multiple fundraising events, ensuring they achieve defined revenue and engagement outcomes. Working collaboratively across the fundraising team, the role delivers seamless events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale business events, while creating high-quality supporter and donor experiences that drive engagement, retention, and stewardship.

We are looking for an Events Coordinator to join our Fundraising Team to:

Plan, manage, and deliver multiple fundraising events concurrently, ensuring timelines, budgets, and logistics are met
Coordinate end‑to‑end event delivery, including vendors, volunteers, and on‑site operations
Collaborate with internal fundraising, marketing, and communications teams to align objectives and maximise event reach and attendance
Develop and implement event marketing, promotional, and audience engagement strategies, including ticket sales initiatives
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, supporters, corporate partners, business chambers, and internal teams
Provide proactive, professional communication to manage expectations and resolve issues in real time
Maintain accurate event records, including budgets, schedules, and evaluations
Prepare post‑event reports, analyse feedback, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Ensure all events comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and organisational requirements

What can you bring to this role?

Qualification in Marketing, Event Management or a related discipline (desirable)
Minimum of two years’ experience in event management or a comparable role
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality outcomes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
High proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using event management systems and CRM databases
Sound understanding of event logistics, including audio‑visual requirements
High energy, proactive approach and a dedicated, enthusiastic work ethic
Genuine passion for community service and supporting health and wellbeing outcomes
Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
Valid driver’s licence and unrestricted right to work in Australia
