Title: Chef

Reporting to: Kitchen Lead

Responsible for: Preparing and producing dishes across our catering and ready-made meals production, working both independently and alongside the Kitchen Lead and wider kitchen team.

Dinner on the Table is a social enterprise catering company with a mission to care for people through really good food. We cook ready made meals for customers across eastern Australia and cater for functions and events across Sydney.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and versatile chef to work within our production kitchen in Castle Hill. You will be working within a dedicated team, reporting to our Kitchen Lead. You will have solid all-round commercial kitchen experience, ideally in catering or high-volume production, and be comfortable moving between different types of work, catering functions one day, ready-made meal batches the next, within specified time frames.

You will have excellent attention to detail, sound judgement when working without direct supervision, and a genuine commitment to caring for people through really good food.

We are recruiting for a part-time, permanent position, 4 days per week Monday–Friday (exact days to be confirmed), primarily daytime hours, with occasional evenings and weekends depending on demand. On the day our Kitchen Lead is not rostered, you will take responsibility for the kitchen floor and ensure the day's production runs smoothly against the plan that has been set.

Responsibilities:

Cooking and producing high-quality dishes across both catering and ready-made meal production, to a consistent standard
Working confidently and independently against a set production plan on days the Kitchen Lead is not present, prioritising and problem-solving as needed
Monitoring stock levels and liaising with the Kitchen Lead on ordering needs
Working closely and collaboratively with the wider kitchen team across concurrent jobs, particularly on busier days with multiple functions running at once
Maintaining kitchen cleaning and sanitisation processes and safety standards during and at the end of each shift
Maintaining food safety standards: correct storage of food and correct cooking processes
Minimising food wastage
Fostering a collaborative and positive work environment in accordance with DotT values

Skills / Educational requirements:

Ideal: Qualification in commercial cookery (Cert III/IV)
At least 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally including catering or high-volume production
Genuinely versatile cook, comfortable across different menus and formats rather than one narrow specialty
Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure, not just when supervised
Excellent attention to detail
A strong sense of pride in your work with a passion for producing consistent, high quality
Dedicated and hard-working
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Full working rights in Australia

Pay: $67,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year
