About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre
We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.
About The Role
The Primary Prevention Project Officer is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, delivering and evaluating Respect Starts Here, a primary prevention initiative delivered across multiple sporting codes and club settings in Geelong and surrounding areas. The role translates primary prevention evidence into practical, club-ready tools, workshops, resources and implementation plans tailored to different sporting codes and settings.
Working directly with sporting clubs, the Primary Prevention Project Officer identifies actions that strengthen respectful club culture, promote inclusive leadership pathways, and enhance the participation and retention of women and gender diverse people. The role facilitates club engagement sessions, bystander training, gender equity needs-assessment surveys and action-planning processes, and analyses survey data to inform tailored club action plans.
The position also contributes to the review and adaptation of program content and resources with specialist partner organisations, ensuring the program remains inclusive, evidence-informed and responsive to diverse communities.

Key Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Your application must address the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, gender studies, community development, education, social work, project management or another relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in either primary prevention, health promotion, gender equity, community development, sport and recreation, or a related sector.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of the gendered drivers of violence against women and the role of primary prevention in creating safe, respectful and inclusive communities, or willingness to develop this knowledge.
- Experience engaging with community organisations, sporting clubs, volunteers or place-based settings to support program delivery and social change.
- Sound project coordination skills, including the ability to plan activities, manage competing priorities, solve problems and meet agreed timelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor information for different audiences, settings and purposes.
- Facilitation, training and speaking skills, including the ability to deliver workshops and engage diverse groups.
- Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across organisations, sectors and community settings.

Period of Appointment
This position is ongoing, subject to funding.
Hours of work
• This position is part-time, 0.6 FTE.
- The position is based at The SAFV Centre’s Geelong office, with project delivery required across sporting clubs in the Barwon region and surrounding areas.
- Working days and hours will be negotiated in line with project and service needs (hybrid working arrangements available as per policy).
• Some flexibility will be required, including occasional evening work to support sporting club engagement and program delivery.
Salary and Conditions
Annual salary range is as a Business Services classification, Level 4. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.
Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.
Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.
Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
