Lead early intervention for children with PHSB

Position Classification: Counsellor Level 4, Psychologist, Sexual Assault Worker Level 4 & Social Worker Level 4

Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications

Counsellor, Sexual Assault Worker, Social Worker Level 4: $63.81 - $65.35 per hour
Psychologist: $40.57 - $59.38 per hour

Location: Blacktown - Community Health Centre

Where you'll be working
Join Western Sydney Local Health District at Blacktown Community Health Centre within the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS). You’ll be part of a specialised, values-driven team committed to protecting children and strengthening families through innovative, culturally responsive care.

What you'll be doing
As a Safe Wayz Senior Clinician, you will coordinate and deliver specialist interventions for children under 10 with problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB), using a trauma-informed, strengths-based and family-focused approach.

Conduct holistic assessments and develop safety & support plans
Provide evidence-informed counselling to children and families
Partner with Aboriginal clinicians for culturally safe care
Deliver consultation, training and capacity building activities
Contribute to prevention, program development and service improvement

Essential Criteria:

Licence: Current NSW Driver's licence
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor's degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership

Selection Criteria:

1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership

2. Demonstrated ability to create community connections, engagement and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, contextual and causal factors for violence, abuse and neglect and the principles of cultural safety.

3. Demonstrated understanding and skills in child centred, family focussed counselling, support and case management to address problematic or harmful sexual behaviours with young children and their carers.

4. Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals and their families and a commitment to accessing clinical and cultural supervision and professional education.

5. Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.

6. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with an ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.

7. Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading quality improvement activities and service development and evaluation.

8. Valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
