The role
We’re looking for a Senior Developer to join the Callista team — one of Australia’s leading Student Management Systems used by major universities across the country. This is a rare senior-level opening on a long-standing product team.
You’ll work across a mix of enterprise backend development, Oracle-connected systems and modernisation initiatives within the Callista platform, contributing to architectural decisions and continuous improvement across the engineering team. You’ll also mentor and coach other developers, ensuring the team continues to grow and deliver.
What you’ll be doing
Lead and contribute to the design and development of new functionality across the Callista platform
Advocate for new approaches and technologies to solve complex problems
Ensure code quality through a right-first-time approach, peer review and strong testing disciplines
Support version control, configuration management, build and release processes
Keep current with secure coding practices and drive improvements across the team
Mentor and coach other developers, sharing knowledge and raising the bar across the team
Contribute to the software development lifecycle from refinement through to delivery
Working across a modern enterprise stack within the Callista platform (details shared during the hiring process)
What we’re looking for
Essential:
Demonstrable experience designing and developing enterprise-level software
High degree of technical ability across multiple technologies
Solid understanding of design patterns and software architecture principles
Strong coaching and mentoring skills
Good communication and knowledge transfer skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Highly regarded:
Experience working within Oracle ecosystem technologies such as Oracle Database, PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle APEX or Oracle ORDS
Exposure to using AI-assisted development tools or integrating AI capabilities within enterprise software environments
Familiarity with AI-assisted development practices such as AI-enabled coding, testing, code review, documentation or developer productivity tooling
