About the Opportunity
iHarbour Consulting is partnering with an established Australian pharmaceutical and complementary medicines manufacturer to recruit an experienced Production Manager for its Western Sydney manufacturing operation.
This is a key operational leadership role responsible for managing day-to-day production activities, leading manufacturing teams and ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently and in accordance with GMP, quality and production requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with Quality Assurance, QC, Warehouse, Maintenance and senior management to ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of compliance, safety and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
As Production Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage day-to-day pharmaceutical manufacturing operations
- Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer and business requirements
- Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with GMP, TGA and site quality requirements
- Manage and supervise Production Supervisors, Team Leaders, Machine Operators and Production employees
- Monitor production output, labour utilisation, downtime and manufacturing efficiency
- Ensure production documentation and batch records are completed accurately and on time
- Work closely with QA and QC to resolve manufacturing and quality-related issues
- Support investigations relating to deviations, non-conformances and production incidents
- Assist with CAPA and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure equipment, manufacturing areas and production processes are maintained to required GMP standards
- Coordinate production requirements with Warehouse, Maintenance, Quality and Planning teams
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, labour efficiency and manufacturing performance
- Ensure employees receive appropriate GMP, safety and operational training
- Monitor employee performance, attendance and workforce requirements
- Support new product introductions, process improvements and manufacturing changes
- Maintain strong workplace health and safety standards across production areas
- Participate in internal, customer and regulatory audits where required
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability and continuous improvement
About You
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager or Senior Production Supervisor position
- Demonstrated experience within pharmaceutical, complementary medicines, nutraceutical, food, cosmetics or another regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing requirements
- Previous experience managing production teams within a manufacturing environment
- Strong production planning, scheduling and workforce management capabilities
- Experience managing manufacturing KPIs, labour utilisation and production output
- Strong understanding of batch manufacturing and production documentation
- Experience working closely with QA, QC, Maintenance and Warehouse functions
- Ability to investigate production issues and implement practical corrective actions
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement
Experience within the manufacture of tablets, capsules, powders, liquids, complementary medicines or similar pharmaceutical products will be highly regarded.
