About the Role:
Lyell McEwin Hospital's Intensive Care Unit is one of South Australia's busiest northern metropolitan ICUs, delivering high-acuity care to a diverse and growing community. If you combine sharp critical care clinical skills with a genuine interest in equipment governance, procurement, and education, this full-time ongoing role was designed with you in mind.
What You'll Be Doing in the ICU
Act as the primary clinical lead for ICU equipment management — overseeing procurement advice, maintenance coordination, and lifecycle planning across the unit's device portfolio.
Develop and deliver equipment competency education and orientation programmes for ICU nursing staff.
Partner with nursing, medical, and biomedical engineering teams to evaluate new equipment and ensure safe, evidence-based integration into clinical practice.
Provide direct patient care in the ICU on early shifts (8-hour days), maintaining and modelling current critical care nursing standards.
What You'll Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and demonstrated ICU or critical care experience.
Proven knowledge of ICU equipment — ventilators, infusion systems, monitoring devices — and confidence guiding others in their safe use.
Experience in or appetite for a clinical educator, coordinator, or specialist nursing role.
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence practice across a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with SA Health or NALHN equipment governance frameworks, or the capability to quickly work within them.
Ability to work a consistent early shift, 8-hour day roster as part of a full-time ongoing commitment.
To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
