WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?
The Senior Claims Consultant applies expert workers compensation claims management experience, and solid decision-making skills, to manage complex workers compensation claims including significant financial decisions, redemptions, permanent impairment assessments and matters before the SA Employment Tribunal (including attendance in person). The Senior Claims Consultant applies best practice to ensure optimum outcomes for workers and the regional local health networks (LHNs).
Operating across multiple regional LHNs, the Senior Claims Consultant works closely with Senior Return to Work Consultants, workers, executives, clinicians, unions and legal representatives, and provides high-level consultancy and strategic advice. The Senior Claims Consultant mentors other injury management team members.
WHO ARE WE?
The RSS is a business unit in SA Health that delivers a range of enabling services, such as workforce planning and recruitment, digital health, finance, infrastructure, procurement, and clinical governance support. Our purpose is to strengthen and sustain healthcare delivery in rural and regional areas by providing consistent, efficient, and specialist support functions to the six regional local health networks (LHNs) across South Australia. We employ around 260 people who work in 37 regional, rural and remote SA locations, or in the RSS's three Adelaide offices.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?
You will……….
Manage complex workers compensation claims, including medical, legal and financial aspects, across multiple regional LHNs in line with the Return to Work Act, legal precedents and organisational requirements.
Provide expert advice and consultancy to senior managers, HR teams and WHS teams on injury management and return to work strategies.
Lead resolution of complex and sensitive cases, including representation in person at the SA Employment Tribunal and negotiating dispute settlement.
Manage lump sums including redemptions and permanent impairment assessments.
Influence continuous improvement in injury management systems, policy, training and practice while mentoring staff and supporting capability development across the injury management team.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Can you demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Return to Work Act 2014 and confidently apply legal precedent when managing complex workers compensation claims?
Are you able to make sound and defensible case management decisions in high-pressure situations involving medical, legal and financial complexities?
Do you have the capability to influence senior leaders, clinicians, unions and legal representatives to achieve fair, compliant and cost-effective injury management outcomes?
Can you proactively identify and resolve barriers to return to work in challenging regional and rural environments, including limited clinician service availability and workforce constraints?
Are you able to mentor others and influence continuous improvement in injury management systems and practices?
