Blackwater is a rural town and locality in the Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia. It is a town in a significant coal mining area in Central Queensland. The name of the township was inspired by the dark colour of local waterholes. A Mining town where generally everyone looks out for each other.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Construction Coordinator, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:

Respond to requests for repairs and maintenance
Conduct regular repairs and maintenance on Yarrabee owned housing.
Removal/movement of company furniture when required.
Respond to requests for repairs and maintenance on building facilities on site at Yarrabee Mine.
Complete improvement projects as approved by the Construction coordinator.
Other tasks to support the Construction Coordinator as required.
Comply with all Site SHMS requirements when conducting tasks on site.
Comply with all WH&S requirements when conducting tasks.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

Current open drivers licence
Construction Trade Qualification (preferred)
Current Standard 11 Induction (preferred)
Current Qld Coal Board Medical (preferred)
General Construction Induction – White Card or Blue Card

Experience:

Experience and/or general knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Building repair and maintenance, Carpentry, Painting or Tiling
Proven experience in think quickly and problem solving
Detailed understanding of WH&S legislation and requirements

Skills:

Good communication skills
Ability to manage your own time in order to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently
