We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
The development of positive, respectful relationships between staff and students is a high priority within our school. Suitable applicants should be effective communicators who contribute positively to professional collaboration and engagement within the school community. We are looking for applicants who engage in ongoing self-reflection, assist in creating an environment conducive to learning, produce or assist in implementing purposeful and relevant learning experiences that support a wide range of different student learning needs.
Within this role, applicants should be familiar with or willing to learn, strategies to assist in the implementation of a variety of specialised programs including behaviour analysis, FILIT, Direct instruction, Read, Write, Inc (RWI), Team Teach, Key Word Signs and provide support during offsite swimming lessons and other excursions and incursions.
Ideally, a Certificate IV qualification and experience in an ESC would be advantageous.

Eligibility

1. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
3. Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
