Accountant

Business Services & Advisory

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a growing and professional Business Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive environment that values technical excellence, client relationships, and long-term growth.

You will work closely with senior team members and clients across a diverse portfolio of small to medium businesses, providing compliance, taxation, and advisory services.

This role offers strong career development opportunities, ongoing training, and exposure to a wide variety of industries.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders
Preparation of income tax returns for businesses and individuals
Preparation and review of BAS, IAS, and GST compliance
Client liaison and management of ongoing client relationships
Assisting clients with accounting software (primarily cloud-based systems)
Assisting with tax planning and advisory services
Supporting senior accountants and managers with client work
Maintaining accurate workpapers and documentation
Ensuring compliance with Australian taxation and accounting standards

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline
Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in public practice accounting
Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance requirements
Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage deadlines and work autonomously

Desirable (but not essential)

Progressing toward or completed CA / CPA / ACCA qualification
Experience working with small to medium business clients
Experience with practice management software
