Deliver trauma-informed therapy to children and young people

Provide counselling, build recovery plans and advocate for children and families impacted by abuse, neglect and domestic violence.

- Counsellor & Social Worker Level 3: $58.95 - $60.86 per hour

Where you'll be working
Join the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS) at Blacktown Community Health Centre, a specialist service leading the delivery of child protection, domestic and family violence and sexual assault care.

Collaborative team of experienced clinicians in a values-driven environment

What you'll be doing
In this rewarding and impactful role, you will deliver specialist therapeutic services and case management to children, young people and families impacted by violence, abuse and neglect.

Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed assessments and risk evaluations
Develop and implement tailored therapeutic case management plans
Provide ongoing counselling, advocacy and support to children and families
Collaborate with agencies to coordinate care and strengthen outcomes
Contribute to integrated service delivery through joint casework and group programs

Essential Criteria:

Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling
Registration: Eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership

Selection Criteria:

1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership

2. Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect setting (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence services)

3. Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults

4. Demonstrated understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse

5. Demonstrated understanding of intergenerational trauma and the principles of cultural safety, with experience in (or commitment to) providing culturally responsive services to individuals and families

6. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders

7. Knowledge and understanding of the legal systems, legislation and policies & procedures relating to violence, abuse and neglect

8. Current NSW Driver’s License
