Location: 1 Station street Highett Melbourne, VIC 3190 (Highett RSL Bistro)
Employer: Highett RSL Bistro (Trading as HIGHETT RSL CLUB) ABN 62038119394
Employment type: Full-time (38 hours/week)
Roster: 7-day rotating roster (split shifts: Lunch 11:00–15:00 & Dinner 17:00–21:00)
Salary: AUD 79,000 – 82,000 per annum

About the role
Join the talented culinary team at Highett RSL Subbranch Inc' as a full-time Chef. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to showcase your passion for creating delicious, high-quality meals in a vibrant, community-focused environment. As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to delight our customers and uphold our reputation for excellent food.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and cooking a diverse menu of dishes to a high standard of quality and presentation
Working closely with the Head Chef to ensure efficient and effective kitchen operations
Ensuring all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to relevant health, safety and hygiene regulations
Assisting with menu planning and development to enhance the dining experience
Maintaining a clean, organized and well-stocked kitchen environment
Providing guidance and support to kitchen staff as required
Contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture

What we're looking for

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent — required.
Current Food Safety Supervisor / HACCP certification — required.
Minimum 3 years’ professional chef experience, including supervisory/leadership experience — required.
Demonstrated experience in menu development, portion costing and inventory management.
Ability to work split shifts on a 7-day rotating roster and to work weekends/public holidays.
Good English communication skills for safe and effective teamwork.
Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg.
Right to work in Australia (Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply).
