Towermont Pty Ltd has been one of Australia’s leading decorators of plastic products for over 25 years. Based in Cheltenham, Victoria, we continue to expand our operations and are seeking a full-time Electronic Instrument Trades Technician to support our Extrusion Blow Moulding Division.
This position is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of electronic and advanced manufacturing equipment, including extrusion blow moulders, control systems, instrumentation and related ancillary equipment. The role requires strong diagnostic abilities and hands-on technical expertise to ensure consistent production quality and minimal downtime.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, testing and repairing faults in extrusion blow moulding machines, electronic control panels, and automation components
- Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on blow moulders, including PLC-based controls, temperature controllers, sensors, actuators and safety systems
- Calibrating, adjusting and modifying electronic instrumentation and machine functions to ensure correct operation and product consistency
- Responding promptly to production breakdowns; troubleshooting, repairing and testing machinery to minimise downtime
- Performing quality checks on machine operation, identifying irregularities and recommending improvements
- Maintaining accurate maintenance logs, service reports and machine records
- Managing spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components for blow moulding equipment are kept in stock
- Assisting production staff by providing guidance on correct equipment operation and machine setup
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally involving extrusion blow moulding, plastics, printing or high-volume industrial machinery
- Strong electrical, electronic, mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Experience with electronic instrumentation, PLCs, sensors, and control systems
- Proven ability to troubleshoot faults
- Strong computer literacy
- High attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to prioritise tasks and manage time
- Good verbal and written communication skills
