Zesty Lemon Cafe is a vibrant, beachside gem in Deception Bay, just steps from the water with stunning bay views. We're known for our relaxed coastal vibe, locally roasted coffee, homemade cakes and slices, and a delicious menu of modern and classic breakfast and lunch dishes — think caramelised banana pancakes, breakfast bruschetta, smoked salmon rosti, signature burgers, seafood, and more. Our friendly team delivers quick service and quality food in a dog-friendly, community-focused environment open 7 days a week.We're looking for a passionate Chef de Partie to join us on a casual basis to help maintain our high standards during busy periods, weekdays and weekends..

Position Overview

Role: Chef de Partie
Employment Type: Casual
Hours: Flexible casual hours (primarily weekend and weekday shifts; morning/breakfast and lunch service)
Rate: Competitive casual hourly rate + penalty rates (in line with Restaurant Industry Award) + superannuation

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and plate high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch, and specials according to menu specifications and recipes
Work specific sections/stations as directed (e.g., grill, pantry, fry, eggs, or dessert support)
Maintain consistency in food presentation, portion control, taste, and quality
Assist with stock rotation, and food prep for service
Follow strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
Keep your workstation clean, organised, and compliant with health regulations at all times
Work efficiently in a small, fast-paced kitchen team during service rushes
Support the the team with daily tasks, menu execution, and any special events.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative kitchen culture

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Demi Chef, or experienced Line/Commis Chef in a busy café, breakfast/lunch restaurant, or similar high-volume environment
Strong knowledge of breakfast and lunch cooking techniques (eggs, grilling, frying, salads, burgers, seafood basics)
Passion for fresh, quality ingredients and consistent presentation
Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (current Food Safety Supervisor certificate preferred)
Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure in a small team
Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude with good communication skills
Right to work in Australia
