Paralegal | 12-Month Contract | 0.6 FTE
Join Australia’s leading specialist medico-legal law firm and make a difference for medical professionals across Australia.
Avant Law is seeking a Paralegal to join our Perth team on a 12-month contract, working 0.6 FTE.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal administrator or paralegal to work alongside specialist medico-legal solicitors and gain exposure to a diverse range of medical indemnity matters.

About the role
Working closely with our Perth legal team, you will provide high-quality paralegal and administrative support to our solicitors and contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of Avant Law.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting solicitors with the management of legal matters and the effective functioning of the Legal team.
Preparing and formatting legal documentation, including briefs and correspondence.
Assisting with court and tribunal filings and liaising with witnesses, experts, court and tribunal staff.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date legal files.
Assisting with the processing of invoices for professional legal services.
Coordinating meetings, appointments and travel arrangements.
Processing accounts payable invoices, monthly billings and Mastercard reconciliations.
Providing general administrative support to the Perth legal team.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience in a paralegal or administrative role within a legal environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
Fast and accurate typing skills, including experience with digital dictation.
Experience drafting and formatting legal documentation.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience preparing, maintaining and managing legal files.
