We’re looking for an organised, hands-on Despatch Manager to lead our busy despatch operation at Haars Nursery. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a large team, drive operational excellence and play a key role in ensuring our premium plants are delivered to customers on time and to the highest quality standards.

About the Role

Reporting to the Despatch & Logistics Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all despatch operations including stock preparation, cleaning, labelling, pricing, packing and dispatch of products across multiple customer channels. Leading a team of up to 4 Team Leaders and 20 Nursery Hands in our busy periods, you’ll ensure daily operations run safely, efficiently and on schedule while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead, coach and develop high-performing despatch team.
Coordinate daily despatch operations to meet customer delivery deadlines.
Plan labour resources and prepare weekly rosters.
Conduct performance reviews, probation meetings and ongoing coaching.
Ensure products are packed, labelled and presented to the highest standards.
Work closely with Sales, Production and Transport teams to ensure smooth operations.
Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Manage stock quality, minimise waste and maintain accurate reporting.
Champion workplace safety and lead toolbox meetings.
Drive a positive team culture built on accountability, communication and collaboration.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be an experienced operations leader who enjoys motivating teams and delivering results. Ideally you’ll have:

Experience leading teams in a warehouse, production, manufacturing or nursery environment.
Strong planning, organisational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
A strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Knowledge of plants or horticulture (highly regarded).
Certificate IV in Horticulture (desirable but not essential).
