Full Job Description

About the Role

Our Client is seeking a skilled and passionate Butcher to join the team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson to become part of a well-established, community-focused business in Hobart’s inner north. The successful candidate will play a central role in upholding the quality and standards our customers have come to expect. For the right candidate, sponsorship under Australia’s skilled worker visa program may be available.

Our Client is a community-focused butchery and grocery business proudly serving Hobart’s diverse community. It takes pride in the quality of our products and our paddock-to-plate philosophy, and we are committed to creating a supportive and friendly workplace where every team member is valued and encouraged to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Cut, prepare, and package a variety of meat cuts including beef, lamb, goat, and poultry with precision and care
Work with our in-house processed beef, ensuring all products meet the highest quality standards
Maintain a clean, organised workspace in strict accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements
Provide knowledgeable and friendly customer service, advising on meat selection and preparation in line with our ethos
Ensure proper storage of all products and manage stock levels with sustainability in mind
Assist with inventory management and the ordering of supplies
Maintain butchery equipment and ensure it remains in good working order
Select and prepare meat for the production of smallgoods
Operate machinery including grinders, mincers, mixers, and tenderisers

Skills and Experience

Proven experience as a qualified butcher, with a thorough understanding of various cuts and meat preparation techniques
Sound knowledge of and commitment to food safety regulations and best practice hygiene standards
Exceptional knife skills and confident use of butchery equipment
Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to represent our commitment to quality in every interaction
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team
Genuine appreciation for high-quality, ethically raised meat and an understanding of paddock-to-plate principles
