Part-Time / Casual Welder & Fabricator – Gates and Fencing
Safehome Gates & Fences Pty Ltd is a growing fencing and gate company based in Dandenong, manufacturing and installing high-quality residential and commercial gates and fencing across Melbourne.
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Part-Time/Casual Welder and Fabricator with proven aluminium-welding experience who is interested in developing a long-term career in the fencing and gate industry.
About the Role
You will primarily work in our Dandenong workshop, fabricating standard and customised gates, gate frames and fencing components.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fabricating aluminium and steel gate frames
- Manufacturing customised pedestrian, swing and sliding gates
- Performing MIG, TIG and stick welding
- Welding aluminium to a consistently high standard
- Measuring, marking, cutting and assembling materials
- Reading drawings, measurements and fabrication specifications
- Cutting, grinding, drilling and preparing aluminium and steel
- Checking finished products for strength, accuracy and appearance
- Assisting with gate and fencing installations when required
- Loading and unloading materials
- Maintaining welding equipment, power tools and the workshop
- Following workplace health and safety procedures
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and can produce strong, neat and accurate welds.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience welding aluminium
- Practical welding and metal-fabrication experience
- Experience with MIG, TIG and/or stick welding
- Ability to fabricate gate frames accurately, square and to specification
- Confidence using grinders, drills, drop saws and other power tools
- Ability to measure, cut and assemble materials accurately
- Good understanding of welding and workshop safety
- Physically fit and comfortable performing manual work
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well within a small team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Highly Regarded
- Experience using TIG or MIG to weld aluminium gate frames
- Experience fabricating customised gates or fencing products
- Experience working with mild steel and galvanised steel
- Ability to read and work from fabrication drawings
- Previous fencing or gate-installation experience
- Victorian driver’s licence
- White Card
