SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Assisting the Senior Environmental Planner in the delivery of Council’s Environmental
Impact Assessment for Council Activities Policy and Procedures including the
assessment and the provision of advice on internal and externally commission Part 5
Assessments/REFs for Council activities as well as reviewing external agency REFs
where Council concurrence is required
- Facilitate involvement and provision of advice from subject matter experts as required
to achieve outcomes aligned with key water, biodiversity, sustainability and other
council objectives, strategies, plans and policies
- Conduct targeted Part 5 Approval site visits pre, during and post activity completion,
to support the delivery of approval conditions.
- Identify and address knowledge and skill gaps in Council’s workforce through delivery
of targeted workshops, in collaboration with internal and/or external subject matter
experts
- Develop strategic frameworks, plans and targeted training to support, and build
capacity in the sustainable management of stormwater, water sensitive urban design
and the progressive transition of Blue Mountains into a Water Sensitive City.
- Lobbying, networking, influencing, guiding and partnering with relevant stakeholders
across Council and with external agencies to assist in achieving Council's strategic
environmental planning and urban design objectives, particularly in the field of WSUD.
- Develop and manage projects and contracts relating to the position’s functions.

ensure that customers are provided with a seamless service.

anticipated outcomes.
- Apply principles of Occupational Health and Safety and EEO and Anti Discrimination
legislation in work practices and procedures.
Workplace Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
