As a Sexual Assault Counsellor, this role provides trauma‑informed, client‑centred support to individuals impacted by sexual violence. It involves delivering counselling, advocacy, and coordinated care that promotes safety, recovery, and empowerment. The position plays a critical role in achieving key service outcomes, including timely access to support, therapeutic healing, and collaboration with health, legal, and community services. This role matters because it directly contributes to improving wellbeing, supporting recovery journeys, and strengthening a compassionate, responsive service for those affected by trauma.

Are You the Right Fit?
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled professional open to becoming experienced in trauma‑informed care with a strong commitment to supporting individuals impacted by sexual violence. The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to work sensitively with diverse and vulnerable populations. You will bring relevant qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field. Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Success in this role requires empathy, resilience, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical, client‑centred practice, with a focus on safety, empowerment, and recovery.

Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas). Bachelor degree in Health related field with an emphasis on human behaviour, psychosocial development and counselling.
Describe your understanding of trauma‑informed practice and how you would apply it when supporting individuals impacted by sexual violence.
Provide an example of how you have worked with others to support an individual with complex or sensitive needs.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P. Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
