Primary objective
Ensure delivery of high quality, culturally appropriate and effective services whilst providing clinical leadership and supervision to Allied
Health Professionals within NT Health.

Context statement
Primary Health Network commissioned the NT Health Top End Aged Care unit to provide the Older Australians Wellbeing program to
deliver mental health support to Older Australians their communities and aged care staff across the NT for the period 1 July 2023 – 30
June 2027.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate services within a multidisciplinary framework.
2. Provide expert advice on program and clinical issues within scope
3. Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship and education to staff and students.
4. Independently organise and manage a high volume complex workload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure

timelines and health outcomes are met.
5. Initiate, implement and complete research, continuous quality improvement, and service development activities at a local or regional

level to ensure delivery of contemporary services.
6. Lead and/or monitor the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy or Social Work from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent) and be eligible for

registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and eligible for membership with Occupational Therapy
Australia or Australian Association of Social Workers.

2. Extensive post graduate experience in providing contemporary, high level clinical allied health services to patients and families/carers.
3. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with patients and

families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
4. Proven high level communication and interpersonal skills, including well developed negotiation and conflict management skills, with

significant experience working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
5. Extensive experience in clinical supervision of students and staff and a commitment to professional development.
6. Proven ability to initiate, implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
7. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively organise and manage a high volume complex workload.
8. Demonstrated high level leadership skills with capacity to provide leadership in a team environment.

Desirable
1. Post-graduate qualifications in clinical education, leadership / management, speciality practice area or another relevant field.

1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy,

supporting well-developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in the understanding, application, analysis and interpretation of a professional body of knowledge to

provide sound advice and support to the multidisciplinary team.
4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established

professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to maximise productive working relationships, including with relevant specialists

and executive management, and manages conflict to promote co-operation, teamwork and understanding.
6. Demonstrates and applies well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities

that influence health care provision for individuals and groups.

Desirable
1. Graduate Diploma, or equivalent, beyond entry to practice relevant to specialty area.
