Full Job Description

Sammy’s Catering & Co is a long running, family operated business with strong restaurant ties and a loyal, established team. Many of our staff have been part of the business for many years, creating a close knit working environment built on strong relationships, experience and shared pride in what we do.

As we continue to grow our catering operations and build out our corporate catering program, we are looking for an experienced Kitchen Operations Manager who will complement and strengthen this environment. We’re looking for someone who can bring structure, systems and leadership while working collaboratively with an established team and respecting the culture that has been built over many years.

This is a senior, hands on role for someone who can take ownership of kitchen operations not just manage day to day service, but build consistency, improve processes and help create a scalable kitchen operation for the future.

What you’ll do

* Systemise and oversee the overall kitchen operation

* Plan and manage prep across catering orders and events

* Organise kitchen workflow and daily operations

* Lead, support and manage kitchen staff

* Manage ordering, suppliers and stock levels

* Develop and standardise recipes and kitchen processes

* Build rosters aligned to order volume and event schedules

* Recruit and onboard new kitchen staff as the team grows

* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and workflow

* Liaise closely with the restaurant team to coordinate shared operations, including crossover menu items, recipes, ingredients and kitchen processes

* Build strong working relationships across both the catering and restaurant teams to ensure smooth communication and consistency

What we’re looking for

* Trade qualified chef or equivalent hands-on culinary experience

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role

* Catering or high volume production experience highly regarded

* A strong systems mindset someone who naturally organises, documents and improves processes

* Confident people leadership skills, with experience managing and developing a team

* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside an established restaurant team

* Experience with ordering, supplier management and stock control

* Experience standardising recipes and maintaining consistency

* Ability to plan staffing around order volume and event demand

* Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or willingness to obtain one

* A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work positively within an established, long standing team
