Introduction:
ACEREZ is a consortium, comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy which has been appointed Preferred Network Operator by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission line network for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ).
The new transmission infrastructure, which will combine high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and related infrastructure, will enable generators such as solar and wind farms and energy storage providers in the CWO REZ to connect to the electricity grid, providing a reliable supply of clean, affordable electricity for households and businesses across NSW while helping to meet the state’s newly legislated Net Zero targets.

THE OPPORTUNITY
ACEREZ require an Operations Training function to be developed from the ground up, to support our team towards safe, secure and effective operating practices.
Development of technical training materials and modules will be the key focus initially. The Operations Trainer will then shift to delivery and assessment of training for the team and ultimately be responsible for all training needs of the Real Time Operations team.
This is a senior role where operator advice, coaching and mentoring will be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage key relationships with our training partners and support staff to organise their training requirements.
Develop, deliver and assess all internal operational training
Support development of technical procedures
Be the subject matter expert for the operator training simulator
Configuration of training scenarios in the EMS
Create and develop OTS training materials, based on operational procedures and power system event scenarios.
Deliver OTS training to the Real Time Operations Engineers
Organise safety rules training with our partners
Support the development of our safety rules training materials
Develop and deliver internal safety rules training
Support the training needs of new Real Time Operations Engineers
Ensure Real Time Operations Engineers authorisations and competencies remain valid
Continuous improvement in training practices, ensuring the Real Time Operations Engineers continue to develop skills and knowledge
Support End User Testing of the SCADA/EMS system
Manage/support future operations projects
Support the Operations Centre shift roster when required
Assist with any outage planning/access planning when required
Lead future operations auditing and investigations as required
Provide input into, and contribute to future EMS upgrades and development projects
Other tasks as required to support the operations team
Skills and Experiences:
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or working towards)
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
Training delivery experience with an electrical supply utility in the NEM
Transmission network (preferred) or distribution network operations control room experience
Experience with Aspentech OSI Operator Training Simulator, or similar product.
Experience with development of effective training materials.
Knowledge of transmission system security, HV apparatus, protection & control, operating procedures, and application of safety rules
Experience with and willingness to undertake shift work as a relief operator
Outage and access planning and coordination experience
Strong electrical safety rules knowledge and application in the NEM
Clear and effective communication and presentation skills
Coaching and mentoring skills and experience
