At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners – from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.

Temporary Full-Time up to 26 March 2027.
Location Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements available across NSW Department of Education offices.

Competitive remuneration ranging from $129,464 to $142,665 plus super & annual leave loading.

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Web Developer to ensure seamless service delivery, reliability, and optimal effectiveness of applications, systems, and programs.

You will guide all stages of software development to meet standards and objectives, delivering design, analysis, and programming expertise for complex programs, and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose through rigorous analysis and testing.

You will design and conduct acceptance testing (including user acceptance testing) to reduce risk and improve quality, provide ongoing third-level technical support through monitoring and trend analysis while coordinating with external providers to resolve performance issues, and contribute to Web Services planning (ITD requirements, resource/capacity planning, security, and disaster recovery) to protect the Department and its users.

You will maintain thorough system documentation (change requests, guides, asset/config registers, knowledge bases), deliver timely specialist advice and operational reports to management, balance stakeholder needs with timelines, and stay current with new technologies to continually enhance service delivery.

About you

Design and build AEM components, templates, dialogs and editable blocks using HTL (Sightly), JavaScript and CSS to deliver seamless authoring experiences.
Develop responsive, accessible and performant front-end solutions using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue.js and Node.js within the AEM framework.
Integrate AEM components with back-end APIs and data sources to enable dynamic, content-driven web experiences.
Ensure AEM components and templates meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards for public-facing educational content.
Provide 3rd level technical support, specialist advice and operational reporting for AEM front-end applications, systems and users.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
