About the role
We are looking for a Servers and Storage Specialist to support and evolve critical OT compute and storage environments that underpin Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s operations.
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on, technically strong infrastructure engineer to take ownership of essential systems and contribute to automation and modernisation initiatives within a complex operational environment.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Process Control Systems and working in a high-performing, collaborative team within Process Control Infrastructure, you will:
Administer and support on-premises OT compute and storage platforms across multiple operational sites
Support VMware and Microsoft Active Directory environments, ensuring stability, performance, and adherence to standards
Own and manage existing custom scripts, including assessing, maintaining, refactoring, and improving resilience
Provide lifecycle support for operational tools including secure file transfer platforms and asset discovery/reporting tools
Drive automation opportunities, identifying efficiency gains and introducing tools such as Ansible or similar
Contribute to infrastructure projects, including technical input, implementation, troubleshooting, and documentation
About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you must be able to demonstrate:
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Strong hands-on experience with VMware and Microsoft Active Directory
Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure in production-critical environments
Experience managing or supporting scripting solutions (PowerShell, VB, or similar)
Experience working with secure file transfer platforms (e.g. Go Anywhere or similar)
A mindset of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

You will be based at the Perth Operations Centre (POC), a state-of-the-art facility that leverages technology and innovation to remotely operate and monitor Rio Tinto’s world-class iron ore operations across the Pilbara. The POC offers a collaborative, technology-driven environment where you can directly impact operational performance and efficiency at scale.
