This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth, development and retention of the Aboriginal workforce across South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). Working within the Aboriginal Workforce Team in People & Culture, you will play a key role in strengthening Aboriginal employment, career pathways and workforce participation through the development and implementation of targeted workforce programs and initiatives. The role offers the opportunity to build strong and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal communities, community-controlled organisations, NSW Health services and a broad range of external partners across South Western Sydney. Through a collaborative and culturally responsive approach, you will help drive practical initiatives that support workforce development, promote culturally safe employment practices, and create positive outcomes for Aboriginal people, staff and communities across the District.

SWSLHD operates its services across the traditional lands of the Dharawal, Darug and Gundungurra peoples, in strong partnership with local Aboriginal communities to deliver better, culturally responsive health care, led by our Aboriginal Health services.We are a district that is committed to supporting you grow and develop your skills. You will be provided with cultural supervision, participate in cultural strengths mapping and form part of a larger, supportive Aboriginal workforce.

Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in Aboriginal workforce development, with a strong understanding of strategies that support recruitment, retention and career progression for Aboriginal employees. You will have well-developed community and stakeholder engagement skills, with established knowledge of and connections across South Western Sydney. Experienced in coordinating workforce programs or projects, you can effectively plan, implement and monitor initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes. You are a confident communicator and collaborator, able to build positive working relationships and work effectively with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal stakeholders. Strong organisational and project management skills, together with well-developed written communication abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, will enable you to contribute to the delivery of high-quality workforce initiatives that support Aboriginal employment and career development across SWSLHD.

Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with Aboriginal communities, organisations and external agencies across South Western Sydney to support Aboriginal workforce development programs or projects.
Demonstrated experience managing workforce development projects within NSW Health, including project purpose, implementation and engagement with Aboriginal communities, organisations and external agencies across South Western Sydney.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P. Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
