The Opportunity
We're hiring a Concrete & Formwork Foreman to take full ownership of our site operations — running crews, driving the programme and delivering structural and decorative concrete packages from set-out to handover. This is a leadership role for someone who can run a job front-to-back: plan the work, lead the crew, coordinate pours and formwork cycles, and represent Grantscapes professionally with builders, engineers and inspectors.
You'll work in close conjunction with our Project Manager and Director, and lead our site Leading Hands and crews on the ground.
Trial period: The role starts with a 3-month trial engaged either as a subcontractor or on a casual basis, so both sides can confirm it's the right fit. On successful completion, the role converts to a permanent full-time position.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Run day-to-day site operations across concrete and formwork scopes — slabs, footings, walls, stairs, external paving and decorative/architectural concrete.
- Lead, mentor and set the pace for crews of up to 10, including subcontract labour.
- Plan and sequence formwork, reinforcement and pour cycles against the head contractor's programme.
- Read drawings/specs, set out, confirm levels, check dimensions and tolerances; resolve buildability issues early.
- Coordinate concrete supply, pumps, trucks, cranage, plant bookings and deliveries.
- Hands-on where needed during pours, screeding and finishing — lead from the front.
- Quality control: ITPs, hold points, defect prevention, as-built mark-ups and photo records.
- Safety leadership: run toolbox talks, SWMS/JSA compliance, site inductions, housekeeping and clean, organised sites.
- Liaise professionally with builder Site Managers/Foremen, engineers and inspectors; raise RFIs and clarifications early.
- Report to and work in conjunction with the Project Manager and Director on programme, labour, materials and project delivery.
- Direct and support site Leading Hands — set priorities, delegate scopes and keep crews aligned across multiple work fronts.
- Manage variations, day-work records and measure-ups where required.
- Build and maintain a respectful, high-standard site culture — skills training and crew development.
What You'll Need (Essential)
- Proven experience as a Foreman or senior Leading Hand on commercial concrete/formwork projects.
- Strong background across structural concrete and conventional formwork (slabs, footings, walls, stairs, external works).
- Confident with plans/specs, set-out and lasers; strong eye for detail, tolerances and finish quality.
- Able to plan ahead — coordinating labour, formwork cycles, pumps, trucks and deliveries against the programme.
- Safety-first mindset with good paperwork habits (SWMS, ITPs, dockets, dailies).
- White Card, Working with Children Check, current driver's licence, reliable car and tools.
- Fit for manual work, punctual, dependable, and a clear communicator.
- If engaging as a subcontractor for the trial period: own ABN and current public liability insurance.
Nice to Have
- Tickets for small plant (e.g. forklift, excavator, skid steer) and/or EWP.
- First Aid certificate.
- Experience on school/government sites and understanding of compliance expectations.
- Basic computer/smartphone skills for site apps, timesheets, photos and dailies.
Why Join Grantscapes?
- AU$55.00 per hour with paid overtime — strong earning potential across a full year.
- Fuel reimbursed for work-related travel between sites (travel to and from home is not paid).
- 36-hour week (72-hour fortnight) with RDOs per the CFMEU calendar.
- Consistent pipeline across quality commercial projects for respected Tier 2–3 builders.
- Genuine ownership of your sites — supportive team, straight communication and room to grow.
- Clear path from trial to permanent full-time for the right person.
Start Time: 7:00am (unless advised otherwise)
