Full Job Description

Part-Time Chef (Japanese Kitchen)

We are currently looking for an experienced and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in food quality, and can consistently deliver high standards during busy service periods.

Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare dishes to order based on an à la carte menu
Prepare sashimi, sushi, starters, and other Japanese dishes
Fillet and portion salmon, kingfish, and other seafood to a high standard
Assist with daily food preparation and stock handling
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workstation
Work collaboratively with a close-knit, fast-paced kitchen team

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum 2 years experience in a commerical kitchen
Strong knife skills with proven experience in salmon and kingfish filleting and portioning
Basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine
Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
Good communication skills and a positive team attitude
Ability to stay organised in a high-pressure kitchen environment
Flexible availability across weekdays and weekends

Pay & Conditions

Hourly rate: $26.70 – $35.00 + superannuation (depending on experience)
