In this role, you'll:
Lead the Cloud & Platform Services domain, owning the strategy, target-state architecture and multi-year roadmap for the cloud and hosting platforms that support Transport's services. This spans public cloud (AWS, Azure), hybrid hosting and on-premise data centres, virtualisation, and shared platform services.
You'll act as the domain's technical authority, setting and governing architecture standards, principles and blueprints, and providing assurance across all cloud and hosting initiatives so platforms are secure-by-design, resilient, scalable and cost-effective.
You'll govern managed service providers and key vendors to architectural intent and long-term strategy, lead domain input into investment planning and business cases (tied to scalability, resilience, cost optimisation and digital enablement), and maintain modernisation, migration and decommissioning roadmaps across data centres, legacy hosting and cloud-native platforms to address technical debt and lifecycle.
You'll provide technical oversight to programs and projects, reviewing solution designs and resolving complex risks to keep delivery aligned to the target state and enterprise security controls.
You'll drive thought leadership on modern cloud and platform architecture, including cloud-native design, platform engineering, containerisation, automation, multi-cloud operating models, and FinOps-led cost optimisation.
You'll partner closely with Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, Network and End User Services teams, and engage diverse stakeholder and vendor groups (including enterprise platforms such as SAP) to deliver consistent, compliant, fit-for-purpose outcomes.

About you
You're a cloud and platform leader who operates at a strategic level, comfortable as the technical authority shaping standards, roadmaps and assurance, not just reviewing builds.
You bring strong experience across public cloud (AWS, Azure), hybrid hosting, virtualisation and enterprise data centres, and you know how to balance scalability and innovation with security and cost.
You're experienced in governing vendors and managed service providers to architectural standards, leading cloud migration and modernisation, shaping investment cases, and driving financial optimisation through FinOps.
You're a trusted advisor who can influence senior stakeholders and assess technical designs against enterprise controls to deliver secure, fit-for-purpose platform services in complex environments.
Essential requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology or a related field
Industry certifications in cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure)
