The Aged Care Precinct in the Kensington Street Building includes a 20-bed acute aged care ward and a 12-bed Behaviour Support Unit. The acute aged care ward cares for older people who are acutely unwell and require hospital level care. The Behaviour Support Unit is a specialist care unit to support the needs of patients with severe or complex behaviours associated with dementia and/or delirium at St George Hospital. The purpose of the Behaviour Support Unit is to stabilise behaviour and safely facilitate the transition of care to an appropriate discharge destination. The Aged Care Precinct is supported by a dedicated team of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. Nursing staff working in the Kensington Street Building will be required to work across both the acute aged care ward and the Behaviour Support Unit.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the St George Hospital and Health service consistent with SESLHD and St George Hospital policies, procedures and standards.

Selection Criteria
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
- Demonstrated recent post registration aged care experience.
