Electrical Design Engineer – HV / MV Infrastructure

Your New Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer , you will play a key role in delivering high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical infrastructure projects across Queensland. Based in Hendra, Brisbane, you’ll work across both design and construction phases , ensuring practical, compliant, and high-quality engineering outcomes.

This role offers a strong blend of technical design and on-site project exposure , giving you end-to-end involvement in complex infrastructure works.

In this role, you will:

Design and develop HV/LV systems including 11kV and 33kV networks, substations, switchgear and transformers
Prepare SLDs, schematics, cable calculations and equipment layouts
Conduct engineering studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and earthing analysis (ETAP)
Design and review earthing systems in line with Australian Standards and utility requirements
Develop technical specifications, reports and documentation
Provide construction, testing and commissioning support
Review civil/structural designs to identify constraints and ensure constructability
Liaise with clients, utilities and multidisciplinary teams
Participate in Safety in Design (SiD), QA processes and risk assessments
Contribute to continuous improvement and design optimisation initiatives

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Progress towards RPEQ registration (or eligibility to apply)
Experience in HV system design and underground distribution networks
Strong knowledge of earthing systems, fault analysis and protection coordination
Sound understanding of AS2067, AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards
Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP and PowerCAD
Strong technical documentation and communication skills
High attention to detail with a quality-focused, solutions-driven mindset
Ability to work collaboratively across design and construction teams
